These fabric has another terminology as Flame Retardant fabric. Both the names or terms are commonly in use among fabric consumers such as factories and Health and Safety officials. FR fabric mainly comes in two different segments such as Treated and Inherent.
The treated fabrics are used mostly in the safety industry and consumer industry. Inherent FF fabric is comparatively expensive than treated fabric.
What are the different types of FR Fabric?
There are different types of FR fabrics. They are mainly categorized as under:

- Meta Aramide Inherent FR fabric
- Modacrylic Inherent FR Fabric
- Nomex Inherent FR Fabric Etc.
What are the mainly used FR Fabrics?
The mainly used FR fabric is made out of Cotton. Cotton FR fabric is very common raw material for FR garments due to the availability and naturality. The second most usage is from Poly Cotton Fabric. Both Cotton and Poly Cotton Flame Retardant fabrics are ‘treated’ ones. It is a natural product and its fiber is not derived as FR.
Inherent FR fabric is made out of fiber that are made with FR properties. While treated fabric lose its FR proerties after certain washes (Max 100), IFR or Inherent Fire Retardant fabric’s properties are life long. Till the fabric is there, FR properties are intact.
